About us

Placebook Scotland was created to enable you to share and record your place - the good, the interesting, and even the odd! Whether you live in Glasgow, Gigha, Edinburgh or Eigg, Placebook Scotland allows you to share your photos, video, prose, poetry and music about how you enjoy and experience Scotland's landscapes and places.

Placebook Scotland was conceived by Scottish Natural Heritage with the support of the National Trust for Scotland, members of the Scottish Landscape Forum and Learning and Teaching Scotland (now Education Scotland) in 2008.  Funding was provided by Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Government. The revision of the website has been undertaken by Scottish Natural Heritage with support and funding from Creative Scotland and the National Poetry Library.  It is a contribution to the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.
